Bauman’s book The Cartoon Introduction to Economics, a collaboration with award-winning graphic novelist Grady Klein, appeared in 2010. On the serious side, Bauman is an environmental economist. He earned a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Washington, and he teaches in the University’s award-winning Program on the Environment as well as at the Bainbridge Graduate Institute. His Quantum Microeconomics is an e-textbook for introductory and intermediate students in the field. He also serves as project economist for the Climate Leadership Initiative of the State of Washington, for which he researched and co-wrote Impacts of Climate Change on Washington’s Economy. Bauman has garnered extensive media attention in both his academic and his comedic roles, with coverage in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and the leading financial newspapers of Italy and Germany, among many others. He has appeared on the PBS Newshour and NPR’s Marketplace. Bauman offers green and eco-themed comedic performances with content appropriate for conferences, businesses, and campuses.
