Gary
Binger has served as a local planning director and community development
director, managed the Association of (San Francisco) Bay Area Governments
regional planning program from 1987 through 2000, consulted for The
James Irvine Foundation and the Mineta Transportation Institute, and
been the Director of the Urban Land Institute's California Smart Growth
Initiative. He lectures at Sonoma State University and at the University
of California Berkeley, and teaches a course on Alternative Urban
Futures at San Francisco State University. He recently received the
Distinguished Leadership Award from the California Chapter of the
American Planning Association. Binger speaks on the practical realities
of making smart growth work at the local, regional and state levels.
