Under Blosser’s leadership, Sokol Blosser Winery showed the way to sustainable practices while playing a strong part in the march of Oregon wines to world stature. Using The Natural Step model to identify sustainable business practices, it received certification from the three top sustainable programs in Oregon. It was the first winery in the country to receive LEED certification, the first vineyard certified as Salmon-Safe under an important Pacific Northwest habitat protection program, and one of very few vineyard-winery operations in Oregon to have achieved full USDA organic certification. Blosser was a founding director of the Oregon Chapter of Business for Social Responsibility and has served on the boards of the Oregon Environmental Council, Oregon Natural Step, the Oregon Chapter of the Nature Conservancy, and the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry. Her second book, Gracious & Ruthless: Surprising Strategies for Business Success, crystallizes her expertise in making a values-based enterprise profitable. Educated at Stanford and Reed College, she also holds an Honorary Doctorate of Public Service from the University of Portland. Grounded in the success of her winery, Blosser speaks on greening winemaking, viniculture, and sustainable agriculture as well as on the guiding principles and concrete decisions involved in shaping a sustainable business. An online video clip, speaking testimonials, and information about her book are available here. To discuss Susan Sokol Blosser as a possible speaker, please call our toll-free number,
