The Eco-Tones are a versatile musical duo - Jimmy Sferes and Jennifer White - performing blues, roots and rock that is mostly acoustic and always informative. Their multi-media performances weave together practical ideas for satisfying and sustainable living with music that is both entertaining and thought provoking.
A husband and wife team, they have also been performing as the acoustic duo Sferes & White. They have been featured on Garrison Keillor's A Prairie Home Companion as well as on the Hallmark Channel's New Morning TV Show. In 2005 they released their debut CD The View from Here, and in 2008 they released their next CD Where Do We Go from Here (playable previews here).
Jimmy has been performing professionally for thirty-five years. He's played in funk, jazz-fusion and R&B bands and has performed at venues such as the Boulder and Bluebird Theatres, Rocky Mountain Folks Festival, and Oregon Summer Solstice Festival. He has shared the stage with David Wilcox, Delbert McClinton, America and many others.
Jennifer has performed with a cappella groups, acoustic duos and trios, rhythm and blues bands, and a country rock band. Her performances are influenced by her early exposure to blues, jazz, gospel and big band sounds. Jennifer's first studio efforts involved providing backup vocals for the Narrow Gauge Band's CD produced by Doug Haywood (an original member of Jackson Browne's band) as well as for Cup-a-Jo's latest CD Enough's Enough.
In addition to her musical background, Jennifer is the Executive Director of a national nonprofit called the Simplicity Forum. It is a multidisciplinary think tank of leaders committed to "achieving and honoring simple, just and sustainable ways of life." She is also the Co-Founder and Director of Education for the Green Heart Institute. It helps people understand the global impact of their choices, connect with their values, and live more sustainably.
The Eco-Tones' shows are versatile and range from short forty-five minute presentations or keynotes, to longer two-hour performance-presentations, to day-long in-depth workshops covering a variety of sustainable living topics including energy use, transportation, food choices, consumption, simplicity, community, and interdependence.
