As
Director of Natural Resource Policy Studies at the National Governors
Association (NGA), Joel Hirschhorn was responsible for projects in
environment, energy, agriculture, water, forestry, and land use. His
New Community Design to the Rescue: Fulfilling Another American
Dream became the most widely disseminated report ever issued by
the NGA. As a senior manager at the Congressional Office of Technology
Assessment, his work on hazardous waste, toxic waste site cleanup,
and pollution prevention drew national attention. Based on this work,
he co-authored 
(John Wiley & Sons). He is currently deeply engaged in the smart
growth movement. His most recent book, 
(Revolution),
details how public health is harmed by a sprawling pattern of land
development. Recognized nationally as a leading advocate of innovative
community design, he speaks on smart growth, sprawl, and related issues.
