To promote his education effort, Klubock has formed alliances with the California Coastal Conservancy, state agencies, school districts, local government bodies, private organizations, and the U.S. Coast Guard. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration honored him with the Walter B. Jones Memorial Award for Excellence, praising his work in involving children of all backgrounds. The City of Los Angeles has twice recognized his foundation with a Certificate of Commendation. Founder and Executive Director of the Malibu Foundation for Environmental Education, Michael Klubock created a school assembly program designed to inspire and involve kids in protecting the oceans, the coasts, and marine wildlife. He has presented this program to more than half a million students, and more than 50,000 have been motivated to participate in an annual coastal and beach cleanup called Kids Ocean Day.
