Francesca
Lyman is an award-winning journalist, author and editor. For the last
five years, she has written the "Your Environment" column
for MSNBC.com, and she has written articles for such environmental
periodicals as Land and People, This Old House, Organic Style,
Sierra, Orion, and Orion Afield. She is the author of two
books, The Greenhouse Trap: What We're Doing to the Atmosphere and How We Can Slow Global Warming (Beacon Press), and Inside the Dzanga-Sangha Rain Forest: Exploring the Heart of Central Africa
(Workman Publishing). She has served as editor of The Amicus Journal
(Natural Resources Defense Council) as well as of Not Man Apart
(Friends of the Earth) and EA Magazine (Environmental Action).
In addition, Lyman was an Adjunct Professor at The Cooper Union for
the Advancement of Science and Art (teaching a seminar on "Environmentalism
in the Urban Context"), and she organized a 4-month symposium
entitled "American Icons, Global Environment" for Sarah
Lawrence College. She speaks on global warming, urban sustainability,
environmental health, and rainforest protection.
